27 Inch Bronze Gong Handmade In Nepal One of One 0015
Gong 15 — 27 Inch Hand-Hammered Nepali Temple Gong One of a Kind
This is a 27 Inch Hand-Hammered Nepali Temple Gong One of a Kind
Nepali temple gongs are hand-hammered in the Kathmandu Valley by bronze craftsmen specialists.
This one is 27 inches across, hammered from a bronze in the bell-metal family, patinated dark, and finished with a full iconography that is unique to this one gong.
The central feature of this gong is a phoenix-like bird rising beneath a small sun disc.
A winged bird form fills the center of the field, with lifted wings, a detailed feathered body, and curling flame or vine ornament below.
A small sun or moon disc sits above the figure. The surrounding rings include repeated small medallions, dotted bands, and a floral outer border.
The tone here is a deep G2 held as the dominant voice, with E4 and A#3 partials above it that add a brighter, more open flash to the beginning of the sound.
Played with a soft mallet it opens with a clear low strike, then the upper partials briefly rise and shimmer before the sound drops back into the G2 body.
The character is dark underneath with a bright crest at the front, almost like the visual image of wings lifting and then settling back into the field.
Playing will favor a single clean strike and a gradual roll that lets the upper color appear without thinning out the low tone. It sounds like a different instrument depending on how you choose to play it.
At The Ohm Store every instrument is selected as a resonator first and a visual object second.
There is only one gong available like this, and you're receiving the exact gong that's pictured and recorded here.
This gong does not include a gong stand.
