Prototype Gong 9 I 27 Inch Steel Alloy Gong: Made in China

A 27 Inch Steel Alloy Gong, one of one.

A flat, stainless plate, mirror-polished at the center, with a hand-hammered dimple field worked across the full annular zone and a clean polished rim.

The entire disc carries a gold PVD finish. The coating is extremely hard, does not chip or peel under normal use, and does not change color over time.

The plate is 304-grade stainless alloy, which is approximately 18% chromium, 8% nickel, iron base. 

Sound

This instrument has an unusually clean fundamental. G#2 at 103 Hz dominates the full spectrum by nearly 12 dB over the next strongest partial . Above the fundamental, D3 at 145 Hz acts as the secondary low partial, with mid-range body through E4 and a harmonic spread reaching A4.
